Fueling Work and Play: RDS Tanks Keep You Moving

When every mile counts, the last thing you want to worry about is running out of fuel. Overlanders, contractors, and boaters alike rely on extended fuel capacity to keep their adventures—and their work—moving. RDS tanks provide the extra range and reliability you need, so you can go further, work longer, and stay prepared for whatever the day brings.

For over 50 years, RDS Manufacturing has been fabricating high-quality aluminum fuel tanks, transfer tanks, and toolboxes that are built to handle tough jobs and rugged terrain. Whether you need an auxiliary tank to extend your truck’s range or a transfer tank to refuel equipment in the field, RDS offers DOT-approved, Made-in-USA solutions designed for durability and convenience.

Let’s explore the best RDS tank for your needs and how Parts Via makes ordering simple.

The Right RDS Fuel Tank for Your Needs

Fueling your journey requires the right equipment. RDS offers two solutions: auxiliary tanks, which connect to your vehicle’s fuel system for extended range, and transfer tanks, which let you refuel equipment on the fly.

RDS Auxiliary Tanks

Designed to integrate with your vehicle’s fuel system, RDS auxiliary tanks help you cover more ground without constant refueling. Diesel models allow gravity-fed fueling directly from the bottom of the tank. If you need a seamless connection to your OEM fuel system, an optional Diesel Install Kit simplifies the process and automatically regulates fuel levels. (For gasoline, auxiliary fueling is only permitted with an electric fuel pump siphoning from the top of the tank.)

RDS auxiliary tanks come in standard, wedge (for fifth-wheel clearance), and toolbox combo designs. Each tank includes a gas cap, drain fittings, a manual sight gauge, a fuel filler shroud, and internal baffles to reduce sloshing. Toolbox combos feature stainless steel linked locks (which also secure the fuel fill) and two lift cylinders to hold the lid open.

RDS Transfer Tanks

How does a mobile fueling station sound? RDS transfer tanks let you refuel equipment, boats, ATVs, and more—wherever the job takes you. These tanks also support auxiliary fueling and can be set up for gravity-fed diesel supply to a factory fuel tank with an RDS Diesel Install Kit.

Built for diesel, gasoline, and aviation fuel, RDS transfer tanks feature reinforced pump couplings, drain fittings, manual sight gauges, and rollover valves for safety. Choose from L-shaped, vertical, or traditional designs, available in multiple finishes.

For a complete fueling setup, RDS also offers transfer tank and toolbox combos with built-in 12V transfer pumps. These rugged aluminum tanks feature 0.125” diamond plate construction, a stainless steel keyed lock, and dual opening handles. Each includes a pre-installed GPI pump with explosion-proof motor and convenient spin collar, available in EZ-8 model (8 GPM) or M-150S-MU model (15 GPM), along with a 10-ft. hose and ¾” nozzle.

More Than Just Fuel Tanks

RDS doesn’t stop at fuel storage—its lineup also includes durable toolboxes, marine tanks, and sportsman accessories like dog boxes and water tanks. Whether you’re outfitting a truck, boat, or hunting rig, RDS products deliver the same reliability and craftsmanship across the board.

  • Marine Tanks: Available in capacities from 4 gallons to over 1,000 gallons, RDS marine tanks are 100% pressure tested at 3 psi under 33 CFR 183.510(a) and built to ABYC & NMMA standards. They meet ISO 10088 specifications and can be built for Coast Guard inspected vessels upon request.
  • Toolboxes: With multiple sizes, shapes, and profiles to fit any vehicle, RDS toolboxes offer secure storage with features designed for convenience and durability, including reinforced lids with welded lid braces, gas-filled lift cylinders for easy opening, and stainless-steel linked paddle handles that lock together. Choose from low-profile, crossover, side-mount, underbody, trailer tongue boxes, and more to fit your setup.
  • “Ready to Go” Dog Box Combination: Designed for hunters, RDS Southern Dog Boxes feature keyed locking doors with well-spaced slats for ventilation, as well as smooth, rolled interior slats for pet safety. Combine with a tracking collar box and five-gallon water tank for all-day outings.
