Selecting the Right Hitch Pin Size

If you're not sure what size hitch pin you need for your trailer, it's relatively easy to measure it. Just take a look at the coupler where the pin would go and measure the diameter of the hole. If you have the owner's manual for your trailer, you can refer to that, as well. In general, Class I and II hitches use pins with a diameter of ½", while Class III, IV and V calls for a 5/8" hitch pin. Having the proper-sized pin is critical for ensuring secure towing and preventing accidents while on the road.
