Customized Adventure
Strapping gear to a bumper or roof doesn’t necessarily require a lot of gear, but it does require the right equipment. Flimsy, universal designs often don’t fully secure to roof racks or tailgates. Over time, they can wear out or cause scuffs and scratches to the vehicle if they aren’t fully secured.
Yakima manufactures solutions for transporting precious cargo and builds products made to fit a wide variety of vehicle fitments, so cargo is fully secured every time. That includes everything from a heavy mountain bike to a few fishing poles. Yakima makes traditional roof racks and platform racks so drivers can build a racking system that fits their needs and accommodates various weight limits, whether they’re starting from scratch with a naked roof or a factory-issue rack with crossbars straight from the dealership.
Variety is just the tip of the iceberg with Yakima’s attractive attributes for adventurers. Attention to quality construction is also a cornerstone, with aluminum construction and a powder-coated finish on bike racks to cut down on dings and scratches and improve the overall lifespan.
Yakima also prides itself on its cargo box manufacturing process. It features a thermoformed construction, 80% recycled material, and a tapered back end that improves hatch clearance.
Aerodynamic designs on both roofracks and cargo boxes mean drivers aren’t just getting a cool-looking product. They’re shopping with a brand that reduces drag and helps improve fuel economy. Yakima’s CBX SOLAR rooftop cargo box even earned the Outside Magazine “Gear of Show” and OutdoorRetailer Innovation Awards “Product of the Year” honors.
The Yakima Journey
Starting as a small machine shop in the Washington city with the same name, Yakima’s founders Steve Cole and Don Banducci acquired the company in 1979. Avid cyclists and kayakers, the duo’s passion for outdoor life spurred practical designs for hauling outdoor adventure gear. Yakima’s innovations earned it a spot at the 1984 Summer Olympics, outfitting race vehicles with itsaerodynamic products. Today, Yakima maintains a name as a leader in the outdoor niche with cargo solutions for every outdoor adventurer.
